Students in Portsmouth are still without accommodation as Stanhope House Halls awaits completion.

Located on Stanhope Road, it is a short walk away from university buildings and the high street.

Residents were due to move in three weeks ago but construction delays have prolonged their wait.

The university term is now two weeks in and many residents are having to stay in temporary accommodation elsewhere.

Callum Page, 20, is one student who is still waiting to move into the halls.

“It’s been quite stressful.

“I’m living quite far away from the university so travelling has been a pain”.

There is still no definitive date for when the students can finally move in.

“The communication with Prime at first, it was very poor.

‘They have been a bit more on it at the moment.’

The long delays have proved to be stressful and there is still the question over whether or not residents will receive any form of compensation.

“At the moment, it’s the inconvenience of getting just £150 which is pretty disrespectful.”

It has nearly been a month since residents were due to move in but there is still no move in date.

“They will not give a move in date until they actually know so we’re all in the dark for the time being”.
