The University of Portsmouth’s Eldon building was the setting of the Portsmouth North election hustings event where candidates from the Labour and Conservative parties took questions from an audience of local residents.

The hustings were originally supposed to feature candidates from all three main political parties, however, Liberal Democrat candidate Antonia Harrison pulled out an hour beforehand due to illness.

The Brexit Party declined to field a candidate.

Here, we speak to the candidates — Penny Mordaunt (Conservatives) and Labour’s Amanda Martin.
