How Selfies are a bigger threat than Shark attacks

This is an idea proposed by none other than Darwin. Survival of the fittest as it may seem. What he meant by that was mostly physical traits and an instinct to survive, something which has probably been either dulled by our own senses or the ignorant belief that we have of our immortality. Looking at it from a different angle, most people always believed throughout the ages that they were immortal only to fall in the end. They were not, however, as stupid as some are today that they would risk their lives for some cheap thrills.

Very recently I came across an article while trying to fill in my Sunday. Surprisingly, it talks about three idiots who lost their lives while trying to take a selfie in front of a moving train. Probably so that their facebook profile pic looks good for, I’m guessing, a month. I do not feel a little bit sorry for them, neither do I intend to mourn for them. These are three of the many people who decided that no matter what their closest ones think of them, theworld remembers them as “STUPID”

According to the Time magazine, more people have been killed by selfies than they have been by sharks in 2015. Well selfies on their own can’t do anything. It requires human stupidity of unfathomable amounts coupled with our need to be validated in the virtual world by people who we don’t even care about. Similarly India has probably the most amount of stupidity/selfie related deaths, a trend which by no means is going to stop.

Now obviously, selfie wasn’t the official cause, but a lot of deaths have been because someone was a total moron taking a selfie at the wrong place and the wrong time. I for one have no reason to ask people to stop doing that, because no one cares what an idiot with a computer thinks and writes on his blog. I for one would encourage more and more use of it, as a way of natural selection working its course. By all means, take selfies wherever and whenever you want, on the edge of a tower, cliff, holding a gun, holding a bomb, in front of a moving train, holding dangerous animals such as snakes or whatever new and creative ways you can come up to display your ignorance and stupidity to the world right before you die, because in the end you will be remembered nothing more than a moron, just like these people have been .
