The one thing that will truly destroy the world-Ignorance

Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity. — Martin Luther King Jr.

So yesterday, Britain just casted a vote to decide whether to leave the European Union or to stay in it. The term coined as #Brexit became the top trend worldwide. The results were out, Britain was leaving. While stock markets crashed and crumbled, nearly every single person became an economist. Even those who had no idea about the entire thing had an opinion on Brexit. But I’m not here to discuss about that. After all it was a collective decision of a nation who made an informed choice. But what happened afterwards was what scared me.

Today morning I read this article from the Washington post. The problem with it was that hours after saying ‘Yes’ to Brexit, the entire nation was frantically googling what the EU was and what it meant to leave it. The top google trends nearly 8 hours after the polls closed looked something like this

Then there was this reaction -_-

“Even though I voted to leave, this morning I woke up and I just — the reality did actually hit me,” one woman told the news channel ITV News. “If I’d had the opportunity to vote again, it would be to stay.

What the hell was she on? stupid pills or something. This is as shocking as it is concerning. The thing is this is not the first case. If stupidity and ignorance was limited to just Britain we wouldn’t have had a situation across the Atlantic where America would give George W. Bush a second term or put themselves in a position where they have to elect one of the two morons for the post of President of the United States.

Then some take it to the next level and display their stupidity across Social Networks.

The bottom line is that this isn’t isolated. Every time we take a decision in our life, more than half the time it’s because of our ignorance that we end up with regrets just like that one person above.

We have serious problems on our hand. Economy is one thing, but our collective ignorance is what will be the end of us. From pollution, to the wars across nation. The media only shows part of the things, or what they truly want you to see and thus taking your ignorance into advantage.

Yes I know you’re too busy with your slightly less than or above average yet mediocre life, and you got a lot of other things to do and I’m not here to stop you from being that. The least I wish from you is that the next time whatever you do at least make an informed decision. Because the next Brexit or Donald/Hillary maybe in your country, and if you have any part to play in opening that can of worms, then you’ll only have yourself to blame for.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
