Year two
Looking back at one year in Office
13th July 2015 Delhi/Gurgaon
It was a special day for me. A rather special occasion. I was frantically checking my email over and over again to make sure I got the address and the time right. Jumped into the car with google maps on to make sure I reach the right place on time. After struggling to find the right place I joined nearly 40–50 other eager beavers like me. This was the start of a new chapter in my life. This was my very first day in office.
Since then till today, it has been a year. A lot has happened. So much stories, so many experiences beyond belief. Be it my first office, where a collective 150 dreaded the manager, let’s call her “Lady Hitler”, she maintained herself with the grace of a lady and behaved like hitler in disguise. All she was missing was a hunter :-P. In spite of that the experiences there were memorable. Whatever time I spent there, I have believed that I made friends I can never forget. Be it the evening burgers, the stroll to the backside market for maggi & dabheli pav or the endless chai, nashta, vadapav amongst a tensed prolonged audit with a small team. Hate to admit it but I am now hooked to vada pav. Brewing in that room was not just tea but also a close friendship.
It was too good to be true and like all good things this one too ended and I had to move on to another company for the choices we had to make. The second half of my year was as crazy as the first was calm. Endless travels, fights with the client, late night stays and scrambling for finalisation of audits. Hectic would be undermining it. The silver lining was the small trips I made back to my previous office sneaking in there thanks to my friends and meeting them whenever I had the chance.
I look back at this one year with mixed feelings, but mostly happy. I know that the road ahead is still long and the ride will be bumpy, but hell I’m in for the ride of my life, wherever it takes me, never forgetting the place my first job, where it all started or the people who I owe so much for what I am today.
