“Be kind to everyone you meet, everyone is going through some sort of crisis.”

Ian Maclaren, Scottish Minister and author who died in 1907

This saying is a great lens to view all those we come into contact with these days — masked and virtually.

___

Much like the Bene Gesserit litany of fear from “Dune,” by Frank Herbert,

“I must not fear.

Fear is the mind-killer.

Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.

I will face my fear.

I will permit it to pass over me and through me.

And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.

Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.

Only I will remain.”

I have heard this saying in my head for as long as I can recall. It’s often one of the last things that has kept me from figuratively leaping off the edge.

___

“Short cuts make delays,” Frodo Baggins.

There are no short cuts, the only way around something is straight through the middle.
