Vue Storefront 1.3 has just landed!

I’m literally thrilled by the new release of our PWA Framework for eCommerce. We were working really hard with our team of 75 contributors to provide You with really cool features (more on it below).

And You know what? This is just a beginning with the graphQL support to come in the next release (already available in alpha)!

TypeScript support

We’ve introduced TypeScript support for the internal framework development. It means You don’t have to write TS code when building eCommerce site but You can leverage on the benefits it provides You with:

  • developer convenience (intelisense support in the IDE’s)
  • types safety and code-testability
  • making Vue Storefront code base easier to understand for new-comers.

Big thanks to David Rouyer, Patryk Mazur and Natalia Tepluhina — great job.

Tier prices

We’ve added the Magento’s tier prices support which is a great step for B2B developers. Now each user can have custom prices based on their user group. This wasn’t possible without Agata Firlejczyk and Maciej Daniłowicz efforts. Thanks!

Lot of fixes, refactoring + stabilization

Business as usual ;-) Each release comes with a lot of refactoring and fixes, thanks to the whole team for bearing with us and making Vue Storefront much better with each release. Check the full credits!

Developer’s experience and events

We’ve visited recently Dubai and Singapore — great cities and even more exciting events.

Next cities where You can meet the core VS team:

  • Kraków — Meet Magento Poland 10th of September
  • New York — 13–21st of September,
  • Eindhoven — Reacticon — 4th of October
PWA discussion panel at Meet Magento Singapore

We’ve discovered 4 new sites which are underway to be published using Vue Storefront — and really cool brands. Cases will be published soon!

For the speeches we’ve got there I’ve gathered some developer’s feedback on how is to work with Vue Storefront. Here You have just a few quotes:

“Leveraging Vue Storefront for the development of the project frontend, we’ve seen unprecent development speed. In Vue Storefront, we have found the missing piece that let us apply Lean principles on this eCommerce project. I’m sure that even big enterprise projects will truly benefit from this approach and will be able to direct our efforts towards business goals, not the tools to achieve them.”
– Gennaro Vietri — CTO of Bitbull

Wow, that was awesome but take a look at this one:

The biggest difficulty we have had is finding FE’s willing to work on the platforms, training them up and then trying to convince them to stick it out — Magento being the one that most of our developers simply refuse to work on. Now, coming across VS, I may have discovered the light at the end of the tunnel. Front-End devs developing with what they enjoy….JavaScript.

… and the last one:

If we compare the development cost of a traditional Magento 2 webshop with the PWA demo, it would be 3 times faster to develop. Also, the page speed is insanely fast and it looks like Google is really liking it. We experienced that our pages and blogs are indexed really high in the SEO results (top 3) after one week of publishing a page or blog
– Estera Dugulan, Vendic.

The folks from TheHourGlass.com (Singapore) are doing a great job with the Vue Storefront implementation — the new site will be published shortly!

I really like it! Developer’s experience is one of our key goals, and as it seems — the efforts were worth it!
