Looking back at one Wanderful year together.

On August 15, 2021 —An unforgettable galactic odyssey begins.

8,888 Wanderers are set forth on a journey, putting you in the pilot seat with few answers and more questions being asked at every turn.

I am currently writing this article from a hotel room, traveling back across the country after watching the first ever Wanderers live concert in Denver, CO. A live concert experience with Wanderers music, visuals, fans, and magic.

One year ago, I was messaging a stranger on reddit about making an NFT collection.

One year later I’m flying across the country to see my own galactic band perform live.

It is absolutely surreal, what we have created and achieved in a year. Nothing would be possible without this incredible team and community. Nothing would be worthwhile without people who care.

So much has happened. Inevitably, I will miss some moments, but I will try my best.

So suit up, strap in, and let’s take a look back at this Wanderful year we’ve spent together.

The Culture —

The community will tell you — there’s just something about Wanderers. Something that makes them different. Even after a year. Even after you’ve watched them a thousand times. Even after you think you’ve seen all the combinations.

There’s just nothing else like Wanderers.

The mind boggling variety and depth lures the trait hunters. The rich storytelling attracts the sci-fi nerds. The nostalgic animation and music creates a tight-knit community of explorers with hunger for curiosity.

Soon after minting out, the Snipers Lodge opens.

Sniper culture begins.

Snipers (named for “Sniping the best deal”) have a deep rooted culture in the Wanderer’s history.

The Wanderers collection had over 3 quadrillion potential combinations. We broke sites like Rarity Tools which simply could not compute the collection.

For example, “No Panels” — pilots with a cleaner view of space, less traits, rated less favorably on rarity sites.

Yet, these “less rare” tokens trade at a premium. Maybe it’s about the experience after all.

Next, we expanded.

We dropped transmissions. We dropped interviews. We dropped puzzles. We dropped short films. We dropped music. We dropped planets.

You went crazy renaming claiming and renaming planets in anticipation of the intergalactic Travel Agency opening (coming soon™).

Soon after, The Wanderers became Wandernauts. Faces to the faceless.

8,888 heroes with personalities and rich backstories were generated.

If you’re still reading this article, you can probably name some, if not all of the characters from memory. Why is that? What makes it so engaging? What makes it so sticky?

We built a universe to explore. And we’ve barely gotten started.

Music —

Wanderers are perhaps the most uniquely rounded media NFT. And music is no exception in that statement. All 3 of our collections incorporate music differently, whether it be curated theme songs, or generative sonic anthems.

We dropped a full 8 song album titled Guardian Marked and have 20+ more songs (bagners) on the way. The original album defined the Wanderers sound. Our next release will be more exciting in how it pushes forward in uncharted territory.

We played an immersive IRL concert, live streamed the production virtually & minted segments of the show.

Thanks to our incredibly talented core team member Landos Soundo, we will never stop exploring how to push music in Web3 further.

Frens —

The uniqueness of Wanderers quickly caught the eye of many legends in the space such as Sia, Gramatik, Doug Boneparth, and ThreadGuy.

We’ve hosted parties in the metaverse, after acquiring land in CryptoVoxels. We’ve danced all night with DJ Tropix, hosting a massive virtual NYE party with over concurrent 500 guests from BYOPills, BearX, Little Lemon Friends, Mutant Cats, and more.

Rarible created us a white label marketplace to trade Wanderers with lower fees than OpenSea and contribute to a community treasury.

We had our first ever live event at NFT NYC where we erected an actual wormhole and gave away free custom merch.

The wormhole traveled to FutureShape360 in Denver, CO where it was painted on by some of the best 1/1 artists in the space such as Parin Heidari, Warhodl, Wes Henry, Gabe Weiss, and Creatress. We call this Wormhole Resurrection. The next time you see it, it will look fantastically different.

When we played a live show at FutureShape360, Scott Page of Pink Floyd came out to Jam.

The Wanderers never stop building and never stop exploring. Even as we get ready to publish this on our birthday, we’ve launched WanderNames and the community is racing to claim as many .wanders.eth names as possible.

So that’s just some of the stuff we’ve done in a year. So what’s next?

We are super bullish on gaming and we’ve acquired land in many games including NFTWorlds, Otherside, World Wide Webb3, CryptoVoxels, and more.

Wander World?

NFTWorlds is no longer using the Minecraft engine. We will be launching our world as a “regular” Minecraft server for the interim and keeping an eye on the NFTW team/community for updates.

Wen merch?

Since we’ve sold out of all our limited run merch at NFTNYC, we are working on some new designs. We expect end of summer.

When next album?

Soon. But it will be even cooler than you’re expecting.

Planet Pass?

We are close to opening the first stage of the Travel Agency. We have been data testing some bots in discord for several weeks in preparation.

Unminted Planets?

There are approx 2k unclaimed planets from a snapshot which have not been claimed. We will soon start announcing a deadline to claim. Afterwards, the planets will be recalled and redistributed in various means such as: rewards to holders, marketing for the Travel Agency opening, community building efforts and more.

The Rift?

Once all the avatar songs are ready to be released (20 full length songs takes a long time), they will be added to Rift (state changer) as a music mode. We cannot do this on an individual basis, it is all or nothing.

Anything else you’re not telling us?

Yes.

Thanks for reading and wandering with us. This year in review was written with much love by Nick. If you think I missed anything, please let us know!
