Whether you are traveling for business or pleasure, you may have a particular eating style that you don’t want to abandon just because you are traveling. I don’t I do. Why am I so picky? Because I don’t want to feel like a garbage disposal on vacay.

Only us healthy freaks would understand.

You think it’s easy resisting those Cinnabons, sausage McGriddles, and Pad Thai meals. Their sharp and delicious aromas filling the air of Concourse D.

Well, it’s not!

Yes, it would be easy to grab a delicious lemon pound cake from Starbucks. But we can’t have it!

So what do we do… Well, we follow these 5 simple guidelines. And rather than gaining 5 pounds due to our carb overload. We look better when we get back… Weird.

1. Eat whole foods, not snacks

Before you go to the airport eat a healthy meal, then you won’t be tempted to stop and grab a bag of chips or candy. You don’t call soda and a bag of chips breakfast at home do you? Eat an apple or eggs before you leave.

When you arrive at your hotel, find the nearest market. Buy fruits and instant meals like oatmeal.

2. Drink lots of water

Bring your own water bottle. You can always empty out the water to take in through security.

By having a water bottle, it will save you money from buying a plastic water bottle while being eco-friendly!

Even though you will have to get up 4 times on the plane. Your body will thank you and you won’t be exhausted due to dehydration.

3. Bring a Cooler

Fill your cooler full of goodies and health snacks. Like sliced fruit, veggies, yogurt, hummus and protein bars.

You can even pre-cook chicken and other health foods for meals on the go!

You will also be able to follow №4 (below) and defend against those unhealthy snack temptations.

4. Stick to Your Regular Eating Schedule

This is a byproduct of meal prep and having your cooler. By bringing your food ready, it’s easy to stick to a regular eating schedule you avoid the highs and lows of being late or missing meals altogether.

5. Stay Active

Walk to the airport. Book a hotel with a gym. Have a beach close by? Wake up early or take a sunset stroll.

Don’t have access to a gym? Invest in resistance bands. You can get them at your local sporting goods store or order them off Amazon and have them with in 2 days!
