Over the weekend, Governor Jay Inslee plugged the 2017 special election in the Washington 45th Legislative District as the third most important race happening in the country.

In an interview with the Pod Save America podcast, Inslee plugged Manka Dhingra, the Democrat candidate in the 45th legislative district. He had a tough time pronouncing Dhingra’s name, but that didn’t stop him from making a fundraising pitch for her candidacy.

Listen to the interview here. You can hear Inslee discuss the 45th legislative district at the 39:10 mark.

The three most important elections in the United States this fall are the gubernatorial elections in New Jersey and Virginia, where we have an excellent chance to win both races, and the third is the 45th legislative district in the state senate in the state of Washington. And I am serious about this. I am serious about this. We have a great candidate Manka Dhirgra (sic). ElectManka (dot) com. ElectManka (dot) com.

Inslee went on to share why this seat is so important to him and Washington Democrats:

This one seat tips the balance of the legislature. You know what I can do if I get a majority? We will start moving our climate change legislation right here in the state of Washington.

This race in the 45th legislative district will decide the balance of the Washington State Senate. Dhingra will be facing off with Republican Jinyoung Lee Englund this fall in what is expected to be a highly competitive state senate race.
