The first half of the weekend could be very soggy in Washington Township and the surrounding region.

With heavy rain expected later on Friday and early Saturday, the National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for the entire South Jersey region. The watch will be in effect from 2 p.m. Friday afternoon through 2 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.

Showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain are expected to develop across the region Friday evening. Additional waves of showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain will continue to impact the region through Saturday morning. Rainfall amounts will generally be around two to four inches, but isolated area could see rainfall in excess of six inches.

If heavy rain falls in a short period of time, it could result in rapidly rising water levels along streams, creeks and area of poor drainage. Significant roadway flooding may occur. Areas most vulnerable are parts of the region affected by heavy rain during storms last weekend.
