Letter to the editor: Disapproval over higher tax bill

Writer: “The mayor should explain to taxpayers…why her flat budget doesn’t trickle down to our tax bill.”

So much for a flat budget in Washington Township!

I received my tax bill today, and my municipal tax increased by 4 percent from last year. Although the value of my house remained flat, sad to know, the value of the land increased by 18 percent. The mayor should explain to taxpayers in a similar situation why her flat budget doesn’t trickle down to our tax bill.

I’m waiting for the mayor’s explanation on this issue; in the meantime I find it incredible that in Washington Township, the value of your house stays flat and the value of the land increases in value by 18 percent.
