‘It’s gonna get wild’

Something other than memories

The Wild. It sometimes got like that. We loved it.

I wish that we had taken more photos and more videos.

We have mostly memories and they are more precious and I guess that is why we are writing a book to share with you our much cherished memories, now twisted with love and soon to be twisted by you. The expert reader and manipulator of words.

This video was taken on the Two Thumb Range on what was once part of Mesopotamia Station’s high country block and is home to the highest point on Te Araroa, Stag Saddle. It takes you through the range and some amazing old mustering huts, to the Roundhill Ski field above the beautiful blue, Lake Tekapo.

We were always hungry and never passed an opportunity to eat some deliciously greasy Fish ‘n’ Chips and other fatty delicacies and we were always on the lookout for the specials on chocolate bars, two for one or eighty cents each.

In this case I couldn’t wait for a Four Square, anyway.

Here, is a snippet of life on the trail. It was at times, cold…
