I can’t remember whether Jim and I fucked for six days and six nights when we’d been dating for 12 days, or whether we fucked for 12 days…Or Is That Not What You Want to Hear? ¶ Sex? Is that the ultimate reason for everything? So goes reductionism. But wait…I’m getting ahead of myself. More narrowly, my question should be this: ¶ Could it be that what propels us into the public arena is, paradoxically, the most personal and very private? I ask because I just had a letter published in The New York Times, and I’m second-guessing my motives.
