Q: How do I navigate the audition process at Overlake theater?
A: The best way I’ve found to navigate the audition process is to have an open mind and stay healthy. Keep an open mind through the entire process and don’t get too stuck on being one character. Being part of a show is an amazing opportunity and you should be grateful that no matter what happens, you get to be part of an amazing show (all shows at Overlake are amazing). It also helps if you can stay healthy through auditions, so it’s really important to stay hydrated and keep up on sleep.
Q: Am I going to get through junior year?
Yes, and there are some things you should do to make it easier. First, stay hydrated and rested. Your health is really important, and if you don’t take care of yourself, you will end up falling behind. Second, stay up to date on your homework and try not to procrastinate. Most of us push homework off, which causes more stress. It really helps to work first and watch Netflix after work’s done. Third, do something else beside school. If you don’t give yourself a break from school every once and a while, your year won’t be that fun. You could play a sport, join a club, be a part of a show, go on an adventure over the weekends, or just hang out with friends. And finally, if you need help or you’re struggling in a class, meet with your teachers. Go to office hours or set up a meeting with them. They want you to do well in the class so go ask them for help.
Q: How can I make friends?
Making new friends at Overlake is pretty simple because there are so many places to make new friends. You can join a club that you’re interested in, and you’ll be able to meet people who have the same interests. You can join a sport or a show. Everyone involved in these activities is super nice and make for a great place to make new friends. You could also just talk to new and different people in your classes and sit with other people at lunch. Students at Overlake are amazing people who would really enjoy being your friend.
