This week marked the beginning of Overlake Basketball’s games, exciting for both the athletes and the student body. It’s a new season with new players, new head coaches for both girls and boys varsity, a whole new team with the addition of girls JV, and new reputations to make.

On Tuesday (11/24) the Boys JV and Varsity team had their home openers against Vashon Island! Boys JV won their first game, but unfortunately Varsity lost 32–47. Although the score was disappointing, the fans didn’t disappoint and we had a surprisingly high attendance of owls for 7:00 pm on a Tuesday night. (Thanks students!) On Friday (11/30) the Girls Varsity and Boys JVC had their home openers against Cedar Park Christian. The Boys Varsity and JV also had their second home games. Owls came out with a full sweep, winning all 4 games. JV Boys won 47–44. Varsity Girls won 63–52. Varsity Boys won 60–55. All the games were super close, except JVC — way to crush it, pulling out wins in the end against a fairly good team. More great attendance from the fans, this time all out in their black for blackout.

On Saturday (12/1) JV Boys, Girls, and Boys Varsity all had their first away game in Concrete, WA…a good 2 hour drive away from campus. It was another sweep for the owls! Girls: 57–16, JV Boys: 59–16, and Varsity Boys: 53–23.

But we are not done yet! Girls JV has their home opener this Wednesday (12/5) against Forest Ridge at 5:30. Please come out to support our girls team and the expansion of our program!!

We have another new exciting addition to Overlake Basketball: a way to stream games live! Don’t miss another game, even if you can’t be there in person! With co-hosts Mike Davidson and John Wiley, you could experience the game from your comfy bed! Stream it on NFHSNetwork!
