From raising money for Alex’s Lemonade Stand to seeing Micah head-to-toe in pink to two exciting Varsity basketball games…Coaches vs. Cancer was a huge success. If you missed the festivities, here are the highlights from the fantastic event:

Students vs. Faculty Game: Unfortunately, the student body lost to the faculty on Friday. The student body coached by Trey Rudolf, Zach Foster, and Jacob Wright had a tough loss, especially since it was to a team with Micah Orr dressed like a basketball-playing flamingo. This was the most attended game of the night, everyone coming out to see a faculty take-down…oh well, maybe next time.

Girls Varsity Game: The girls had a huge game today, winning meant a secured spot as League Champions. And they pulled out the win!! The girls came full out in pink jerseys, showing their support in the fight against cancer. The girls came out strong, starting the first minutes by getting up 7–0. This crowd was the biggest that the girls have had this whole season, which definitely had a huge impact on the team as the loud crowd helped carry the energy of the team toward victory. Final score: 54–38.

Boys Varsity Game: This game was the most exciting to watch of the evening, as it kept the crowd on its feet the whole game. The score went back and forth to the very last minute. In the final 60 seconds, Zach Foster tied the score back up by hitting two 3s, making it 41–41. Unfortunately, a lay-in by SAAS and a controversial call by the ref lead SAAS to beat the Owls. Final Score: 49–52.

Fundraising: Overall the event raised $6,659 dollars for Alex’s Lemonade Stand through T-Shirt sales, raffle tickets, and the silent auction. People won awesome prizes and took home cool auction items. We had huge support from students buying t-shirts and parents taking their chances in the raffle.

A Special Guest: The Overlake Athletic Committee also helped to raise money for an Alumni who is currently fighting cancer. Through a shooting competition from the crowd during the boy’s halftime, the OAC gave the alumni a $1,000 dollar check to help pay for future treatments to help his fight against cancer.

Overall, the event was a blast and couldn’t be more successful!
