In “Quick Definitions,” students on the Overlake campus are asked to define a list of words, but there's a catch: participants cannot take more than 5 seconds to define each word.

This week, sophomore Reid Hu defined the following words in a total of 1 minute and 15 seconds, an average of 3.95 seconds per word.

1. Fruity- A situation that has a lot of juicy chewable

2. Recipe- The instructions to make food

3. Elixir- something very tasty

4. Fantastical- something exceedingly tasty

5. Gymnastics- something that I aspire to do but can’t do

6. Forfeit- When you give up

7. Tortilla- A skin that tastes good

8. Bottle- A round plastic thing that holds juice

9. Tickle- Causing pain but in a very light way that makes you laugh

10. Spider- Something that has eight legs and crawls on you

11. Light- Something that emits electromagnetic waves

12. Purple- A very high energy electromagnetic wave

13. Grapes- Something that is purple

14. Koala- Something that sleeps a lot like me

15. Stop- When you’re driving and you hit the left pedal, no, the middle pedal because you’re driving a manual transmission car

16. Golf- Something they use golf carts for, and golf carts are fire

17. Paper- Something that cuts you

18. Tree- Something that makes paper

19. Dungeon- Someplace that I get stuck

No need for a dictionary when Reid Hu is around, but for those who don’t have him in their English class, at least you have the best definitions for these 19 words.
