How do you stay safe and what are the symptoms?

Washington COVID-19 Statistics from Bing

COVID-19 was identified in Wuhan, China in December 2019. There have been many reported symptoms of COVID-19, including:

  • Fever or chills
  • Coughing
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Headache
  • Nasal congestion/runny nose
  • Muscle/body aches
  • Sore throat
  • Loss of smell or taste
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea

It is important to note that some people don’t develop any symptoms but can still transfer the virus. No one is immune but some people are less likely to be affected than others. Examples of this would be children who are less likely to get the virus than adults.

There are a number of ways to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection. These include: avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth, avoid close contact with people who are sick and quarantining. If you meet with someone, physically distance, wear a mask, and avoid going into closed spaces. Clean and disinfect surfaces that you touch often, and wash your hands.

How do people get COVID-19?

COVID-19 is transferred through respiratory droplets. These can range in size from smaller to larger droplets.

The larger droplets land on surfaces due to gravity and the smaller droplets spread apart in the air.

Although uncommon, it’s also possible for someone to get COVID-19 by touching a surface that has the virus on it then touching their own mouth, eyes, or nose.

So stay safe and self-quarantine!
