As the Overlake School begins its process of rebuilding the Math-Science building, the Scallion is lucky to present the new stand in Math-Sci. Let’s introduce some of its exciting key features:

1. All the students are buzzing at the newly placed mudslide that only promises to be more extreme as the weather changes. As you walk to the double-decker portable, you often are catching other students walking past you on the mudslide, making a fun game of “will my outfit be ruined or is my classmate actually paying attention on the walk to math.”

2. On rainy days, students especially enjoy being treated to a beautiful waterfall that marks their entrance into the building. As rain pours off the flat roofs without any gutters, this makes for a fun dash through the door into class.

3. Unfortunately, the favorite attraction has been shut down due to near-death experiences, “the door on the second floor leading to nothing.” Although students rallied together in support of a fire pole to get out of class, Overlake decided with stairs that can lead to a fun trip on your butt down to the ground level on icy days.

4. Don’t get your hopes up about the nowhere-leading door though because who would even want to leave these portables that are full of yummy allergy hazards. One student has already been hospitalized, yippee for 2 days off of school!

5. While in the classrooms, any of the four, you can experience a winter wonderland as Kathy Finkenstadt maintains power over the one and only thermostat, and she likes her temperatures cold. Just remember to bring shorts and a tank top in order to catch hypothermia, another week off of school thanks to just one building!

6. Not to mention that all of the students are fascinated by the creepy crawlies that live in the now, unopenable windows. They place bets on how long that bee can survive in there and if you take the long trudge across the grass field to the other portables, you can see where Rhonda keeps her pet spider.

7. Students love the lack of bathrooms in the new Math-Sci because it gives them an excuse to miss 10–15 minutes of class. It also allows you to go through many of the wonderful attributes that have been detailed above: mudslides, waterfalls, and slippery stairs!

We hope you enjoy the rest of the year with this amazing new addition to the Overlake School!
