Trailer Review
The Latest mother! Trailer Teases An Intense, Thrilling Film

Earlier today Paramount Pictures released the first full-length trailer for mother! a film directed by Darren Aronofsky, and that stars Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Ed Harris, and Michelle Pfeiffer.

This trailer brings the creepy, tense vibes in spades! Throughout the mother! trailer you feel the tension between the actors, and I love how the music adds to the strain with its uneasy strings.
It begins with a happy couple (Lawrence and Bardem). She is bringing life back into his home, and Lawrence’s character can be seen painting walls and getting things in order. Then Ed Harris’ character arrives, followed by Pfeiffer’s arrival. Things begin to unravel as Lawrence starts investigating and looking through their guest’s things. There are a lot of jump cuts involving what appears to be a dinner party, and people with lanterns in the yard that add to the unsettling feel of ‘mother!’. There is also some focus on blood throughout; in the rug, on the wall in the basement and in a lightbulb (this last one was a little odd). There is also a theme of ’seeing is believing’ that played through the trailer a couple of times.
The trailer for mother! is terrific, it gives up a little bit regarding the plot, but it still leaves you wanting to know more about this story. I was a little undecided after watching the teaser trailer, but having seen this latest look at mother! I’m interested in learning more about this movie. There was also a little bit of a Get Out vibe throughout the trailer too, where there is more going on behind the newlywed facade. Could there be some cult activity going on? We’ll have to wait just over a month to find out, ‘mother!’ opens in theaters on September 15, 2017.
Here’s the synopsis:
A couple’s relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence. From filmmaker Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan, Requiem for a Dream), mother! stars Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer in this riveting psychological thriller about love, devotion and sacrifice.
