It’s going to be a great weekend to get out to theaters, grab some popcorn and enjoy an evening at the movies. Let’s take a look at the two major movies opening in wide release this coming weekend.

Murder On The Orient Express

Official Synopsis:
A lavish trip through Europe quickly unfolds into a race against time to solve a murder aboard a train. Everyone’s a suspect when Detective Hercule Poirot arrives to interrogate all passengers and search for clues before the killer can strike again.

Murder on the Orient Express is one of my most anticipated movies in the last quarter of 2017. This latest iteration of Agatha Christie’s classic has a phenomenal director/actor in Kenneth Branagh, and a stunning cast. Johnny Depp, Daisy Ridley, and Willem Dafoe, just to name a few. This classic who done it movie looks gorgeous in the trailers and I am looking forward to seeing this one.

Daddy’s Home 2

Official Synopsis:
Father and stepfather Dusty and Brad join forces to make Christmastime perfect for the children. Their newfound partnership soon gets put to the test when Dusty’s old-school, macho dad and Brad’s gentle father arrive to turn the holiday upside down.

Daddy’s Home 2 is a movie that is fascinating to me. Comedy sequels are by and large not good films. It’s tough to capture the same feel that made the original movie good without rehashing the same jokes/scenarios. What makes Daddy’s Home 2 so interesting to me is that this sequel looks to be a holiday-themed movie, and that might give them an avenue to make this a funny sequel. If it’s done right, that should allow this film to find new material and place our characters in unique situations. Add Mel Gibson and John Lithgow into this mix, and I think there is some real potential for this to be a good sequel.

Those are my thoughts on this weekends premiere movies, what do you guys think? Are you guys excited to see either of these or will you be seeing something different? Let me know in the comments below and as always, I’ll see you at the movies.
