I am currently working as a Remote Software Engineer in Europe. With Remote in my title comes freedom. Freedom of movement and freedom of time management. As I have mentioned in a previous article, I am a very fond member of Wework and since summer 2019 I have been a Global Access Member allowing me to reserve Wework locations wherever I want.

I had already been to Barcelona earlier in January 2020 (before the pandemic). This summer I decided to pop back to Barcelona when I found out that there is a new location that had just opened in the city center.

Here is a quick review of every location in Barcelona.

Passeig de Gràcia 17

This is the newest Wework in Barcelona, it was not yet open when I was here in January and has opened in July 2020. Out of all the Weworks in Barcelona I believe this one has the most convenient location. It is located in the center of Barcelona half way between the Gracia quarter and the old center. I am not yet an expert of Barcelona and the best neighborhoods to live, however of the last two times I have been here Gracià seems like a great place to live.

This Wework is brand new. It has nine floors and is on the Carrer de Gracià. On the ninth floor there is a rooftop area with a view on the sea and the Sagrada Família.

View from the 9th floor during the golden hour

There is also another rooftop area with a calmer view on the neighboring buildings.

The hot desk area is great with a nice selection of chairs, tables and sofas to choose from. The open areas (for hot desks) are the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 9th floors. There are kitchens on every floor with what ever you need to stay focused and get work done. If you want to stay on the ninth floor, it can get quite busy as it is quite small.

The Wework crew is very hospitable as always. They will give you great tips on how to live the Barcelona lifestyle.

This Wework location is the best in Barcelona in my opinion. It has the best view, the closest eateries and is the closest to the center of the city. I highly recommend coming here if you do not have too much time to explore all of the locations.

Glories

This Wework seems to be the biggest Wework in Barcelona. It is eight stories tall and has its own rooftop. It is located near theGlories tower close to many companies and start-ups. The location is not as nice as the center of Barcelona, however since it is not in the center of the city there is more space and there is a more diverse selection of rooms.

Hot desks can access every floor however the 8th floor is where there is the most space for desks. The open area on the top floor is pretty nice, there is a large selection of sofas and odd chairs to work on, however finding an outlet is not very easy.

When you want to go out to eat Glories has a great selection of restaurants and grocery stores. There is an outlet mall next to the office space with a Carrefour and a food court. Everything is close by, the only down-point is after 8PM the gets very quiet. If you want to go out after work it is quite difficult to find an open bar or restaurant.

This location is a great place to work. I rate it as my second choice. The top floor is perfect for hot desks, there is a lot of room to move around and switch spots. The patio is great for relaxing outside plus at this Wework there is a larger beer selection.

Ciutat de Granada, 121

This Wework is right next to the Glories location. It can be seen from the previous Wework and is at a 1 minute walking distance.

Even though this Wework is very close to Glories, it does not have the same vibe to it. Global access members are allowed to work on the first floor and have access to the rooftop. The first floor is a large space with the reception area, a kitchen, three rows of hot desks, and a few sofas to chill in. As for the rooftop there are a few sofas, outlets, a ping pong table and beer taps.

I believe that this Wework has the best interior for nomads that want to get things done. Not too many distractions, plenty of space and not too crowded. That is the perfect combination for productivity.

After Passeig de Gràcia and Glories I place this as my next choice. I enjoyed my stay here very much. It is quiet and convenient. The rooftop is very enjoyable especially in the winter.

Diagonal 444

Diagonal 444 is small, cute and convenient. It’s one of those Weworks that you want to go to on a Friday so that you can socialise after work. It is located not too far from Passeig de Gràcia 17 closer to the Gràcia quarter. Gracia being great place to live and this Wework is perfect if you like to live close to your office.

View from the sofa area

The work space available for Global Members is quite limited as only the ground floor is available for hot desks. There is a cozy area with sofas and books, a great place to sit and have coffee, tea or even a cold one. I personally like to work on the large marble table close to the kitchen.

I like this location. You get the feeling that you know the people around you more. It is a great place to get to know people and meet new profiles.

Although I have visited the last Wework in Barcelona Carrer de Pallars, 194, I haven’t been there long enough to form a detailed opinion. It is quite far from the center of Barcelona and doesn’t offer a lot of space for hot desks. It is however in a district with many start-ups including Glovo and N26.

As Wework expands in southern Europe I believe that more locations will be available in the coming months. Barcelona is a great place to start a business. Cost of living is cheaper than other major cities and the quality of life is great. I highly recommend coming to Barcelona, especially in the winter.

If you enjoyed this article don’t forget to give it a clap. I will try to write more reviews on Wework cities in the coming future.
