Last week, the First Lady headed to the U.K. and Italy on a trip that took her from talking to girls about their education, to helping share tips for healthy living at the Expo, to visiting with our military families stationed abroad.

#LetGirlsLearn: London, U.K.

In London, the First Lady was inspired and impressed by the hard-working students she met at the Mulberry School for Girls. More than 62 million girls around the world are not in school. That’s a devastating loss for all of us who are missing out on their promise. That’s why while at the Mulberry School, the First Lady also announced a nearly $200 million British and American partnership to continue their collective support for adolescent girls’ education, part of which will be directed to countries affected by conflict and crisis.

#LetsMove: Milan, Italy

The First Lady and the Presidential Delegation visited the U.S. pavilion themed “American Food 2.0” at the Milan World Expo 2015. While there, they met with representatives from other countries to share the successes of the First Lady’s Let’s Move! initiative, and learned about how other countries are addressing the issue of childhood obesity and raising healthier families.

#JoiningForces: Vicenza, Italy

The First Lady had a great day visiting with military families stationed in Vicenza, Italy. She attended a USO-hosted barbecue, read a story to military kids with Blue Star Families and Disney’s Books on Bases, and surprised expecting mothers with gifts from Operation Shower and Glam4Good. But, celebrating our military families can’t just be a one-day event. That’s why the First Lady challenged all Americans to ask themselves what they can do for our military families stationed all around the world.
