The Journey of Self-Discovery

“the free soul is rare, but you know it when you see it — basically because you feel good, very good, when you are near or with them.”

― Charles Bukowski, Tales of Ordinary Madness

What is the good life?

Health, Love, Beauty, Work, and God. These are the metrics of make up the good life.

Many of us only work on 1 or 2 of these traits. It’s very common to devote life to work and love, completely forgoing health, beauty and God. Or maybe you focus on God and love, completely forgoing work, health and beauty.

This issue plagues our modern world and leads to problems occurring that spill over into multiple aspects of our society. A common occurrence is an over emphasized focus on work. This frequently leads to neglected relationships and health. How many of us have a relative who worked themselves into disrepair?

The good life is not necessarily a perfectly balanced life, but a life that is designed so one’s needs are all met. You may not value spirituality as much as a devote catholic or muslim, but maybe you are very passionate about architecture, and beauty holds an important place in your life so you focus more on living in an aesthetically pleasing home.
