Jim Parton, who has been diligent and dedicated to the craft of showing up and submitting work routinely, has been gone for quite a long time now. He touched base just fast enough to let us know what was going on with his family.

His family had a terrible mishap.

His oldest sister Nova was horribly injured in an accident. She was walking across the street near her antique shop, and was hit by a truck. Her younger sister, along with twenty or so other people, witnessed the tragedy.

Fortunately, Jim’s family is working hard to take care of his oldest sister Vera, but he has been very busy and away from his writing career.

Jim Parton — thank you for your article telling us of your family’s hardship. You are the recipient of this last month’s writing competition — which was money you donated — as your family’s situation is such a strong example of how things can change in the blink of an eye.

Loss, sadness, and transition is hard. Pick up the pieces and get creative. Death, near-death, divorce, loss, transitions, graveyard, cemetery, urn plans, complicated grief, hospice care, all issues related to end of life. Not accepting letters to deceased or poetry.
