Time and time again, I’ve noticed people in this platform have stories to tell about loved ones who have passed

It’s hard to be vulnerable about our losses. I’ve written extensively about mine.

Recognizing that other writers often need to tell their most personal stories about loss, especially during holidays, I thought about the concept of the Wind Phone.

The Wind Phone

A gentleman from Japan, Itaru Sasaki, lost his cousin. He desired to talk to him, so he put up a phone booth.

The phone inside went, of course, to nowhere.

Sasaki visited the booth and talked with his loved one. When we lose our people, and our pets, we all feel a deep emptiness when we can no longer communicate. His invention captured my imagination.

Others began traveling to this phone booth, to talk with their own loved ones.

In time, these special phone booths — conduits to heaven — went up all over the…
