As the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak has evolved, the health, and safety of our employees and community is our top priority at The Wing. We know thousands of women and allies depend on The Wing as a safe space to connect, conspire and co-work from, and we take that responsibility seriously. So, to support our employees and community we’re taking the following steps:

Employee Health

Paid leave for all employees

We offer paid leave for all of our hourly and corporate employees. This will continue throughout the crisis. If any Wing employees are diagnosed with COVID-19 or placed into quarantine they will receive their full salary or payment for any scheduled shifts until they have recovered. This will ensure that affected employees can take the time they need to rest and recuperate without worry,

Closures

If we close a space, our hourly employees will be paid for their scheduled shifts without depleting from their accrued time off.

If mass transit shuts down or schools close, The Wing will work with our HR team to launch working from home best case practices and plans.

Caregiver Status

In the event that our spaces remain open but schools close in any of our region, hourly employees who are parents and primary caregivers will still be paid for their scheduled shifts even if they need to stay home with their children or family members.

Travel

We have asked all employees to cancel all domestic and international business travel until the general United States travel restrictions are lifted.

Our community

Our spaces

For now, we are keeping our spaces and HQ open. We acknowledge that closures are likely, but we do not have set closure dates. We will work off government and CDC recommendations, and any instances of exposure in our spaces. There have been no reports to date.

Sanitization

We’re conducting preventative cleaning and sanitization in our spaces, and we’re currently rolling out extra sanitation products for all member and employee use.

Events

Beginning this week, we have postponed a number of high-volume events across Wing spaces, and will continue to do so in the coming weeks, in an effort to be mindful of large in-space gatherings. We advise you to check the app or web portal for the latest updates on events that have been postponed and those that will take place as scheduled for the foreseeable future.

Our members can always connect with the community using the Groups feature of The Wing App. Really amazing conversations are happening right now in the Practical Survivalists of The Wing or Civic Engagement — be sure to check them out.

If a Wing member or employee is confirmed to have coronavirus…

  • We will close the affected space, assess who they interacted with (team & members), conduct a deep clean of the space, and follow all CDC guidelines.
  • During a space closure, The Wing will pay employees for their scheduled shifts
  • Employees who did interact with the COVID-affected person must go through a 14-day quarantine.
  • If an employee is confirmed to have COVID, they will work directly with HR to ensure they have the resources to support them.
  • When we reopen a Wing space, employees who did not interact with the COVID patient will be permitted to work and cover shifts.

We urge you to take precautions to stay hygienic and healthy.

Please text The Wing at 1–855–250–4220 if you have tested positive for COVID-19 or have come in contact with it through primary or secondary channels so we can ensure the health and safety of our community. All communication will be kept strictly confidential.

We hope these decisions will help contain the spread of COVID-19 globally and support our employees through this uncertain time. We’ll continue to monitor COVID-19 around the world and the recommendations of global health organizations. Our goal is to help keep our community and employees safe as news develops.
