I’m pulling the plug on my headphones so she can hear what I’ve been listening to on loop in a drooling undead trance for an hour. Its name is “La Dee Da,” a song off the Foo Fighters’ 2017 album Concrete and Gold. I’m in that initial phase of fresh kick-in-the-kidneys love: I can’t justify my feelings; I just feel them, like New Hampshire highways feel the freeze, like road-raging assholes see red.
