Words have always been my art. They dance for me and sing for me. They laugh for me and cry for me. They are my paint and brushes. They are my clay.

I fought against my evil twin,
The same struggle again, again.
I’d win, but it would all replay,
Around and ‘round until I’d cry,
And beg my God to help me try
To stop her, keep her far away.

To my dismay she did not go;
Instead she threw her strongest blow,
Felled my defenses, conquered me.
But then she knelt down at my side,
My stinging bitter tears she dried,
Bent to my ear, whispered, “You’re free.”

At last I see that we are one:
My conflict done, I’m truly me.
