Enterprise Institute Program
A core part of our work is training and testing partners at our Enterprise Institutes. We support organizers and entrepreneurs with ventures at a range of stages- from ideas that need validating to prototypes that need testing- to develop business model canvasses using Michael Bush’s 8-Factors Business Framework. After a competitive application process, we invite teams to spend two days with our staff and mentors representing the worlds of labor, organizing, entrepreneurship, and investing. Below is a snapshot of each of some of our participants:
EMPOWER
EMPOWER is a mobile tool developed to help Walmart workers access essential services, offer peer-to-peer advice on how to navigate difficult working conditions, and connect with each other to transform their working conditions.
LABOR EXCHANGE
Labor Exchange will help underrepresented, low income workers increase their access to living wage, entry-level jobs by creating an online and mobile marketplace where they can easily apply for jobs and be found by employers looking to hire, regardless of industry or geography.
CONTRATADOS
Contratados enables workers in dispersed communities to share crucial information about the recruiters and employers they interact with by contributing to an accessible star-rating and peer review system.
THE WORKING WORLD LOAN FUND
The Loan Fund is a self-sustaining loan fund that benefits workers and communities while generating income. Working hand-in-hand with democratic businesses they will help design loan products that can be implemented in small, sometimes even weekly, increments.
WORK HARD, PLAY HARD
Work Hard, Play Hard will help low-income workers access affordable childcare, at work, whenever they need it. It helps companies pool the childcare subsidies that their workers already receive to set up childcare centers as close to work places as possible.
As you know, we are focused on supporting all of our partners to develop sustainable revenue streams to sustain and scale their work. In each session participants works intensively with our team to clarify their value propositions and customer segments. They vetted both practical and innovative ideas for revenue generation.
