Words we need to stop using.

We all have our own words that make us feel smart. That shut other people out. I’ve been trying to get away from this smarty-pants speak and use language which connects.

Buzzword bingo -> Alternative

Sustainability -> Not being an asshole*
Feminism -> Not being an asshole
Diversity -> Not being an asshole

Stakeholders -> People who give a shit**
Engagement -> Giving a shit
Consultation -> Talking to people who give a shit

Sustainability -> Not screwing up the planet
Feminism -> We are all the same
Diversity -> We are all the same

I believe that people care. They want to make a difference. We need to make it easy for them to do that. Ditching the labels and the jargon and not being an asshole is a great place to start.

*For polite company this could be ‘Doing the right thing’ and ** ‘People who care’.
