Genius is not a gift, it is the outcome.
Most people do something until they get it right once –then they think they’re done.
By studying the people around me and the people I admire I have noticed that legends and elite performers start exactly where most stop, they don’t practice, drill and rehearse until they get it right, they do it until they never get it wrong!
Whether you’re studying, training, or developing your skillset and craft, the new standard is to practice, drill and rehearse to the point that it’s second nature, and you never get it wrong!
You don’t want to make up the numbers and be another expendable cog in the wheel, so you better become world-class at something, and the only way you’re ever going to become world-class is to raise your standards!
Being stubborn, dedicated, and laser focus will definitely take you far in life. But in order for you to achieve your true genius, you need to have an incredible amount of self-awareness. You need to know what’s not working for you, remove it from your life, and focus all your energy on the things that feel right.
You never really know if things will work out, even if you try your hardest and have the best intentions, sometimes things simply don’t work out.
That’s just how life goes, but one thing I’ve learned over the years is not to let the fear of failure and disappointment determine how you feel and how you react to the world around you.
Some people waste their lives running from one thing to another forever looking for success and their pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and never stay in one thing long enough to find it (I was guilty of that). Others have to quit multiple times in order for them to find the right venture and finally be able to tap into their genius.
Once you find the right path for yourself–you’ve just got to be optimistic, positive, and certain about everything you do. You have to go in expecting it to be exactly how you want it to be and plan only for success!
Whatever you do in life do it with a great level of energy, passion, love, and commitment and if it doesn’t work out, and if it fails at least you will know deep down inside it wasn’t because of your attitude, outlook, and level of commitment.
Life is too short to play it safe, and you can’t really call it living if you keep protecting yourself from truly experiencing the life you want to live and the full range of emotions and feelings that come with it.
Go out there, love, live, and create like you have nothing to lose and nothing to fear and if you’re being honest with yourself, you don’t have anything to lose and fear.
