The reason why there is much interest in alternative energy sources for Automobiles

The effects fossil fuels have on the environment

When people discovered fossil fuels deep within the Earth’s core in the late 18th century they believe they found the key to the future. Fossil Fuels were abundant in almost every corner of the world and people saw a future where various machines could be powered by this natural resource. One man named Karl Benz created such a machine that would move by the burning of these fuels, its name was the automobile.

Fast forward two centuries millions upon millions of automobiles burn fossil fuels releasing massive amounts of carbon dioxide directly into the air. The drastic increase in C02 emission has lead to something called global warming, a term most of us are familiar with. Global warming can cause a plethora of things from droughts, extreme heat waves, and acidic rainfall. However one of the most dangerous side effects of global warming is natural disasters.

Just recently there was one of these catastrophic disasters in the Philippine’s, a super typhoon that caused massive levels of destruction. Due to this natural disaster being directly linked to increased emissions of C02 into the atmosphere, world leaders at the 27th International Conference at CADCAM “Issued a warning on climate change”.

The result of such a warning will most likely be direct government involvement . If governments get involved in the automobile market you can be absolutely sure to see a increased rate of conversion to automobiles with less C02 emissions, or none at all. They have the ability to either provide incentives to consumers or provide government funding to companies such as Tesla to make their products more desirable than the typical fossil fuel burning vehicles. They could even pass laws that bans the production, use, and ownership of automobiles that run on fossil fuels.

Whatever the case may be ,some government involvement is inevitable. The current consumption of fossil fuels keeps on increasing C02 being released into the atmosphere makes sure of that .
