Monday, Sept 6th 2021 was jam packed with energetic filled bands. One of those bands who’s name goes by J.T. Hiskey, rocked the stage in front of a packed crowd at the Salt Lake City native venue Kilby Court, that resides in the great state of Utah. J.T. Hiskey who is also from Salt Lake City, Utah; opened up for Vase Cameo and Aquatape, and had the crowd pumped up just in time for the other two bands to complete the show.

After opening up the set with his own rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner” on the electric guitar, J.T. Hiskey went straight into his newest song called “Love” that delivered that Pop-Punk sound, while playing next to his drummer Dallin Hunt. The two have not yet renamed their band name, but you can clearly tell that the two had great chemistry together as performers, and as friends. J.T. Hiskey had so much charisma and energy in him, and it was pretty obvious he was there to put on his best performance yet.

One thing that stood out to me as I watched and wrote down notes for this show, was the fact that J.T. Hiskey spoke to his audience in between every song, and made his show more personable and more like a homecoming for himself. J.T. Hiskey mentioned that Kilby Court is a venue that always stood closely to his heart, as it was “the very first venue ever he ever did a show at when he was only 18 years old”. I really admired that about him, and how he talked to the crowd to make his message very clear, which is to stay positive and that everyone should be treated equally.

The rest of the set that him and his drummer Dallin Hunt performed was very well-kept, and it was nice to hear some Hip-Hop songs added into the set. Hearing these Hip-Hop songs being performed with a live drummer, helped boost the live sound and added a lot to the whole new Pop-Punk sound. Songs such as Help The World (a collaboration J.T. Hiskey did with Lil B The Based God last summer) and Twerk That had a whole new atmosphere to it with the new live sounds of guitar and drums. This style clearly works out for J.T. Hiskey, and it is a sound that not too many Hip-Hop artists are able to accomplish.

Ending the set with “You’re My World,” had the crowd singing louder than before and you could tell that this was a song that J.T. Hiskey will never get tired of.

Overall, we give this concert performance a 9.00/10.00. We recognize that every concert we see and review will not be perfect, and this is a set that was still performed and planned very well.

Check out J.T. Hiskey’s newest music video for his single “Love” and be sure to catch him at a show in a city near you!
