According to Cook County records and reports from news outlets such as ESPN and NBC Chicago, Julianna Zobrist has filed for divorce from Chicago Cubs second baseman Ben Zobrist.

The filing does not cite a reason, but the request for dissolution was filed on Monday, May 13.

Last week, the Cubs granted Ben a “leave of absence due to personal reasons” and many are speculating that his absence during Spring training may have been related to the divorce, but that is unclear at this point.

According to the NBC Chicago, Cubs manager Joe Maddon reached out to his second baseman a few days prior to the team’s Tuesday night game in Cincinnati against the Reds.

“I texted him the other day, reminded him how much I care about him, and about how much we miss we miss him,” Maddon told reporters.

Prior to the reports, social media exploded with rumors of divorce after Julianna deleted her Twitter account and removed photos of Ben from Instagram. The caption related to her most current photo seems to be one of the reasons for much of the frenzie on social media.

Her page is now filled with photos of her and the couple’s children and promotional photos for her brand as a professional singer. You’ll have to go all the way back to October 2018 to catch a photo of the two on her Instagram.

Ben and Julianna’s relationship began back in 2000 after an innocent Instant Messenger exchange. After dating for several years, the two tied the knot in 2005. They have been married for 14 years and have three kids.

The Cubs have not stated nor given any indication as to when Ben will return.
