Cubs Down Cardinals 5–3, Move Into 1st in National League Central

With the Brewers losing earlier on Sunday the door was open for the Cubs to move back into 1st place of the NL Central. After a 5–3 win over the Cardinals they did just that.
Jose Quintana gave up 3 runs over 6 innings pitched in his Wrigley Field debut and the Cubs moved to a season best 5 games over .500. Hector Rondon and Carl Edwards Jr. rebounded from their rough outings on Friday and Wade Davis closed the door in the 9th to solidify the victory.
Wilson Contreras continued his hot streak at the plated hitting a 2-run home run that ended up being the game winner. Kyle Schwarber also added a solo shot in the fourth inning. Kris Bryant and Jason Heyward got on the board as well with RBI’s of their own.
The Cubs will now take their MLB best 8–1 record since the All-Star break and face the crosstown rivals Chicago White Sox. Kyle Hendricks will make his first start coming off the DL. First pitch is slated for 1:20pm tomorrow.
