Cubs Fall 5–0 In Game 4. Now Face Must Win Scenario.

Last night Stephen Strasburg was not going to pitch for the Nationals. This morning it was a different story and he came in and shut down the Cubs on a wet day at Wrigley Field.

Jake Arrieta made his first start in over a few weeks and he only lasted 4 innings. Jon Lester came on in relief for Arrieta and pitched great over the course of his 3 and 2/3 innings. That is where the wheels fell off.

Already down 1–0 in the 8th, after Lester allowed one baserunner. Carl Edwards Jr. who has pitched in every game so far loaded the bases. Wade Davis came on and inherited a 1–0 count on National’s center fielder Michael Tayler. With the wind howling through the ball park, Taylor got ahold of a Davis pitch and hit a grand slam to give the Nationals a 5–0 lead and they would never look back.

The Cubs’ bats were silent all afternoon. Strasburg struck out 12 over his 7 innings pitched and never really allowed the Cubs to make a serious threat in the game. The Cubs are going to have to find a way to get back to basics and get runners on base in game 5 tomorrow if they have any hopes of moving on to their third straight NLCS.

Kyle Hendricks will take the mound for the Cubs tomorrow. We are not sure who will pitch for the Nationals. It will either be Tanner Roark or Gio Gonzalez taking the mound for Dusty Baker.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:08pm CT on TBS.
