Cubs Home Opener Pushed To Tuesday
Cubs to face Pirates in Home Opener
The Fans were ready, the players were ready, but Mother Nature had something else in mind for the Cubs home opener. After a mild snow storm made it’s way across Wrigleyville on Monday the Chicago Cubs made the decision to push the game ahead to Tuesday.
After the Wrigley ground-crew tried everything from snow blowers to changing the start time it was announced the game would be moved to Tuesday afternoon. Tyler Chatwood, who was scheduled to start on Monday, will still take the mound for the Cubs, but one name will not be in the lineup for the Cubs. That name is Anthony Rizzo who was placed on the 10-day DL for the first time in his career. Rizzo has been suffering discomfort in his back since April 2 and played through it until the tightness became too much last Friday. the move to be officially announced on Tuesday will be retroactive to April 6th and should allow Rizzo to return in time for the St. Louis Cardinals series.
Game time for Tuesday’s Home Opener is slated for 2:20 CT as the Cubs face the red hot Pittsburgh Pirates.
