Cubs Take Game 1 Of The NLDS 3–0
Kyle Hendricks took the Washington Nationals to school in game 1 of the NLDS.
Hendricks was stellar over the course of his seven innings pitched. Giving up no runs and striking out six in the process. At one point Hendricks sent down over 20 of the National batters in a row and kept the Cubs afloat until the bats took over in the sixth inning.
Javier Baez reached on an error in the 6th inning. Kris Bryant knocked him in with a two out double. Anthony Rizzo followed with an RBI single to give the Cubs a 2–0 lead. Rizzo would later add another RBI to give the Cubs a 3–0 lead and that would be all they needed.
Carl Edwards JR. and Wade Davis were the only Cubs pitchers out of the bullpen for Joe Maddon and they did what was exactly needed to propel the Cubs to a game one victory. Jon Lester will take the mound for the Cubs in Game two tomorrow night.
First pitch is slated for 4:38pm CT tomorrow. Stay tuned to Wrigley Rapport for more Cubs postseason coverage.
