For the second straight night the Cubs and Marlins played into extras. This time the good guys came out on top 10–6 in the 10th inning.

Yu Darvish got off to a rocky start giving up a two run home run in the first inning. Kyle Schwarber would answer with a two run home run of his own in the second inning.

Darvish would lock in later and would send down six consecutive and prove to all Cubs fans what he is capable of. Anthony Rizzo would knock in three on a double in the 5th inning to give the Cubs a 5–2 lead. The Marlins would soon answer back to tie the game and chase off Yu Darvish.

The Cubs bullpen which was already short on arms would continue to pitch well only giving up one more run to the Marlins and get the Cubs to extra innings to give them a fighting chance again. In the 10th inning Ben Zobrist would knock in one and then the Cubs would load the bases for Kris Bryant who continues to start off the 2018 season strong. Bryant would double in three runs to give the Cubs a 10–6 lead. Mike Montgomery would come in to close the game off and give the Cubs their second victory of the 2018 season.

Yu Darvish went 4 1/3 innings, striking out four with five earned runs. Duensing, Chishek, Edwards Jr., Strop and Montgomery would all come out of the bullpen for the Cubs. The Cubs and Marlins will play the final game of the four game set tomorrow. Jose Quintana will take the mound for the Cubs at 12:10pm CST.
