Medium updated their boost guidelines this month (August 2023) and I’m going through the five criteria one at a time, looking at each one through the lenses of three types of writers.

Spiller are confessional-type writers. Their works is often very vulnerable and is always very personal. They are very inward focused.

Teacher write to share ideas. Their work almost always (as the name implies) teaches something. Even when they’re not writing how to or self-help. They are very outward focused.

Artist write what they want. They are far more focused on the art of writing than on the business of it. They are very muse focused.
