As a writer and a writing teacher, I’m so blown away by the fact that for the cost of a library card, you can gain access to everything that a huge variety of amazing writers knows about the craft.

Ray Bradbury, Ursula K. LeGuinn, Stephen King — iconic writers. And all of them (plus so many more) wrote everything they know about writing into books.

I love borrowing books. I’m a fixture at my local library. But there are some books that a writer really should have in their own personal for-keeps libraries.

I’ve put together a collection of books that you’ll keep coming back to, over and over, through your career. These are the books that I rely on or that have helped me to build a successful writing career.
