When a Medium Writer Has an Off Week

Suck it up, Sunshine (My Medium Experiment, Week Four)

I just wrapped up week four of my experiment to see if it’s still possible to start from scratch and make money on Medium.

In week four I earned $25.69. So far in August, I’ve earned $55.80. Which means that I earned almost $5 less this week than last week.

I’m not going to lie. Earning less this week than last week was a huge bummer.

Here’s my progress so far:

Week 1: $00.05
Week 2: $17.50
Week 3: $30.11
Week 4: $25.69

The goal is to see if I can get to where I’m earning $1000 a month in 90 days.

It’s slow going. And this week was the slowest so far. Backward movement is rough.

In trying to understand what happened I took a look at a couple of things.

First — my statistics. The fans are what we’re looking at, because that’s mostly how we’re paid.
