I am currently reading, well. I have just started reading a book called 52 Small Changes for the mind. Pretty much as it sounds, it’s 52 things to do through the year to help alleviate stress and live a better life. I can’t say I’ll follow all the items in the book, but I love new ideas that enable me always to develop my sense of self and grow into the next stage of me.

Find Your Sense of Self.

The first chapter talks about journaling every day. Just ten minutes, nothing long and arduous. Just something to get you going and in touch with your inner self, because that is what journaling for. Not like a diary where you write down the events of the day, although at times it can be similar, writing down your thought, your feelings. A place to express yourself on a much deeper level where you can talk freely and uninhibited.

According to a study by, Stice, Burton, Bearman and Rohde in 2006, writing a journal may be as effective as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for reducing the symptoms of depression. Another study by Krpan et all in 2013, found that journaling for 20 minutes per day began to significantly lower depression scores after only three days in people diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder.

That’s impressive.

Journaling is good for you.
