Writing to Heal

I can remember being nine years old and going to sleep, praying to God that he not let me wake up in the morning. I chanted it over and over.

Please don’t let me wake up. Please don’t let me wake up.

I was so upset about some events in my life that my young mind didn’t know how to cope and who to go to. I was by myself and simply wished that I could stop living.
