- The Unique Path. The shortest distance between where you are and where you want to go is a straight line. But no two straight lines are the same, because no two people or desires are identical, no matter how similar they seem. Plus, what works for you might not work for others, and vice versa. That’s why you need to mess up until you figure out your own levers and pull them.
- Amplify What Drives You. If you want to move faster, spend time on what lifts you up and cut back on what drags you down. Focus on that, and you’ll get twice as far in half the time. Sounds obvious, but few do it. Humans tend to overcomplicate things. At its core, progress is about finding a system that works for you and optimizing it to be simpler, more effective, with fewer resources and less time.
- Recurring Awareness. You’re not stuck or lost; you’re just distracted. That’s normal: we live in a world designed to hijack your attention. By midday, you can end up in zombie mode, forgetting your goals. Here’s a trick that works for me and might for you: I set alarms every two hours on my phone with the message “Refocus your attention on [insert your main goal].” It reminds me life’s like a video game — if you get distracted, you turn into an NPC…
