The Writer’s Job Newsletter
Newsletter Date: 2021–02–21
Hi everyone!
The past week has been mental. TWJN has gained so much traction and love. Thank you!
The news this week saw Kimye file for divorce, Israel ease lockdown restrictions due to their vaccination rollout success and Prince Charles visited an ill Prince Phillip in Hospital. Not to mention Google firing their top AI ethicist…which raises eyebrows as its amidst a diversity debate.
In other more relatable news, we’re still stuck in a lockdown, and hit a new personal best on the number of Marvel movies watched in one day. Not to mention the amount of popcorn digested within 24 hours…
Writing during these times can be tedious. Often we lack inspiration and at other times, we can struggle to finish off an existing project because our minds feel a bit rigid and static. Alison at the Guardian spoke about it here but ultimately we need to remember to take care of ourselves and each other. In reality, the life of a writer hasn’t changed too much during lockdown, but still on average, we’re feeling it pretty badly.
Mental Health is super important and for us writers, who, even at the best of times, operate in a weird and wonderful way, want to make sure our friends are doing well. Given that, if anyone wants to talk or reach out, please reply to this email and let’s become friends! We’re always happy to help our readers so let us know who you are and what you’ve been up to!
