I started Substack several months ago and went on a sprint. However, I haven’t done much since. I believe there is potential with Substack. It is subscription-based. It means you only get paid if someone subscribes to your newsletter.

Here’s what I learned since I started:

1. Like Medium, your numbers will decrease if you’re not actively writing.

2. Writing new material is best instead of repurposing articles from Medium.

3. Consistency is a factor in building your newsletter.

4. Building my Substack Newsletter will take time.

5. It’s good to have a mixture of free articles and articles under the paywall.

Writing online definitely involves a strategy because time is an essential factor. I write both on Medium and Substack, but publishing on Substack decreased during the past several months.

Final Thought

I believe the key to side gigs is to use them to supplement your full-time job. It’s possible to build a full-time writing business, but increasing my income for my 2nd job is the right thing to do.

I’m new to Substack, but I see promise. The only strategy I can think of is to publish new material. If you are interested in learning more about my Newsletter, click on the link below.
