Dear all,

Over the past six months, I’ve been incredibly fortunate to work with scientists all over the world to showcase their personal, authentic stories outside of their research. Every day I wake up with joy and energy, knowing how we could impact and change the world, one story at a time.

At this time, our identity is evolving:

We are now THE XYLOM.

That comes with some updated contact information. They will be gradually rolled out in November, tentatively by Veterans Day weekend:

  • A new email: thexylom@gmail.com,
  • A new phone number: 678–871–9245, and
  • A fresh set of social media tags: #scientist #storytelling #xforxylom #weareallhumans

There are three main reasons as to why we made the change at this moment:

  1. Practically, a water technology company on the New York Stock Exchange has a similar name to us. As we begin to proceed with legal procedures such as trademarking, we would like to make sure that no one would confuse the two companies.
  2. The new name fully utilizes the three components of our logo, the ‘X’ formed by the azure and green blocks, the ‘Y’ formed by the green block, and then ‘O’ represented by the brown dots.
  3. The word xylem derives from Ancient Greek; it has a history of over 2,000 years. While we use the definition of xylem metaphorically, we are doing much more than transporting water; we are here to connect scientists with people, just like how xylem brings living water to plants. I’m sure that the minds, knowledge, and expertise of scientists are crucial ingredients of creating a vibrant community.

I’m sure great things will come as we blow past the half-year mark. Please spread the word, and support us with our endeavor. To the future!

Best regards,

Alex Ip
